The Court of Appeal granted time to former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen to file objections to the petition filed alleging that he committed contempt of court by not implementing a court order regarding the clearing of Marichukatti and Karadikkuli forests near Wilpattu.
The petition was taken up before Court of Appeal President Justice Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice A. Marikkar.
The respondent Rishad Bathiudeen also appeared in the court.
President’s Counsel Faisz Mustapha, who appeared for Mr. Bathiudeen, presented the facts in the court and requested time to file objections related to the petition.
The court allowed the request and ordered the former minister to file objections before July 21.
Subsequently, the Judge-Bench ordered to take up the petition for consideration on August 28.
