Ashu re-appointed President’s Parliamentary Affairs Advisor!

Professor Ashu Marasinghe, who resigned from the position of Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs, has been re-appointed from January 31 by the President.

Recently, a video circulated on social media sites accusing Marasinghe of sexually assaulting his purported girlfriend Adarsha Karadhana’s pet dog.

Professor Marasinghe resigned from his position following this incident.

Meanwhile, former MP Hirunika Premachandra called a press conference with Karandana and accused Marasinghe of animal abuse.

Professor Marasinghe has sent a letter of demand seeking Rs.500 million from Ms. Premachandra and Rs. 1 billion from Ms. Karadana as compensation saying the allegations have damaged his reputation.

4 SL players in ICC men’s ODI team of 2024

Four Sri Lankan players have been included in the ICC men’s ODI team of 2024.

Sri Lankan players Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been named in this manner.

Also, Charith Asalanka has been named as the captain while Kusal Mendis has been named as the wicket keeper of the team.

2 including Salochana Gamage granted bail

Two persons including former Western Provincial Councillor – Salochana Gamage, who were arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe, have been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (24).

Each suspect was granted bail, subject to a cash bail of Rs. 25,000, two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each, and an overseas travel ban. 

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali also ordered that the guarantors must be close relatives of the two suspects.
