Central Bank lowers interest rates!

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has decided to reduce its policy interest rates.

Accordingly, it has been decided to reduce the Central Bank’s Standing Deposit Facility Rate (SDFR) to 11 percent and Standing Lending Facility Rate (SLFR) to 12 percent.

The decision was taken by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank which met yesterday (05).

Meanwhile, the Monetary Board on May 31 decided to lower policy interest rates substantially.

As a result, the SDFR and SLFR were reduced by 250 basis points to 13 percent and 14 percent respectively.

Sri Lankans in Lebanon urged to be cautious

Amid the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon has advised Sri Lankans to remain vigilant and exercise caution.

The Embassy has urged individuals to avoid crowded areas, nighttime outings, festivals, and long-distance travel temporarily.

Sri Lankans have also been advised to carry a copy of their Lebanese ID (Iqama ID) or passport when going outdoors.

They are also urged to contact the following numbers in any emergency.

Mega Power renews lottery history with Rs.474 mn. winner

The largest lottery prize in Sri Lanka’s history – Rs.474,599,422 was won yesterday (June 16).

The historic win came in the draw number 2210 of the National Lotteries Board’s Mega Power lottery.

The winning ticket was sold by H.A. Janaki Hemamala, a sales agent from Gokarella.

The previous record of Rs.230 million, also won through the Mega Power lottery.
