Iranian authorities are yet to inform the date of their President’s arrival to Sri Lanka, reports say.
Quoting sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ‘Divaina’ newspaper reports that the MFA is prepared for a visit by the Iranian President but is still awaiting dates from Iran as of yesterday (April 22).
It was previously reported that the Iranian President – Ebrahim Raisi would be arriving in Sri Lanka for the inauguration of the Uma Oya multi-purpose project on April 24.
The MFA source had further told ‘Divaina’ that the Iranian President had accepted the invitation extended by the Sri Lankan President – Ranil Wickremesinghe.
However, political analysts have pointed out that the visit remains uncertain in the backdrop of increased tensions between Iran and Israel.
