The Bribery Commission has informed Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe that one of the documents to be submitted to the court to prove the allegations against former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne and two others for causing a loss to the State by leasing out the Modara Fisheries Port, has gone missing.

The Bribery Commission said the directorial board document of the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation dated September 11, 2014 which had been named as evidence by the Commission has been misplaced.

The defendants are accused of influencing the Board of Directors of Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation to lease the Modara Fisheries Port to ‘Sea Gulf U.K.’ company at a low price between the first of August and the first of November 2014, and accordingly causing losses to the State.

Thereby, the Bribery Commission filed a case against the defendants under five indictments for having committed the crime of corruption mentioned in Section 70 of the Bribery Act. The Bribery Commission has informed the court through a case file that it will present 55 documents as trial submissions.

In addition to Mr. Senaratne, the former director of Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation Upali Liyanage and its Managing Director Neil Ravindra Munasinghe have been named as accused.
