The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) arrested four persons including the main suspect involved in the murder of Pathiranage Prakash Thilina Kumara, a brother of Ape Janabala Pakshaya’s Spokesman and Chairman of Nawa Sinhale organisation, Dan Priyasad.

The suspects were arrested on the day before yesterday (04).

The victim was hacked to death under the Orugodawatta Flyover on July 25 last year during the night when the electricity was off.

The CCD said that three of the four arrested suspects are residents of Pansalhena Road in Wellampitiya aged between 21 to 25.

The fourth suspect who is from Webada is identified as Bandula Piyal alias Bandu, a 50-year-old.

It was reported that two suspects are father and son and are distantly related to the murder victim.

The two swords that were used in the murder were found hidden in the house of the Webada suspect and from the house of Dulan Madhushanka, also known as Dula, a resident of Wellampitiya.

The police also found the vehicle in which the suspects arrived at the location of the murder.

The CCD said the murder has been committed over a dispute over ice drug trade.

Police said that there were allegations of assault and intimidation against the person who was killed.

A case was pending against him in court for assaulting and injuring a person. Police said that he was on bail over the case.

The four arrested suspects have been remanded until February 08 after being produced in the Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The deceased 34-year-old Pathiranage Prakash Thilina Kumara worked as a machine operator in an ‘Amano’ gutter manufacturing factory.

His workplace was also located near the Orugodawatta Flyover.

Prakash Thilina, a resident of Kuruniyawatte, Meethotamulla in Orugodawatta, was a father of two daughters.
