The International Day of Democracy falls today (15) and this year’s theme is ‘Empowering the Next Generation’.

Democracy is the ruling of the community by the community itself or through a system built on the collective decision of the community.

On the International Day of Democracy, the world’s democratic states provide opportunities to discuss democracy.

Sri Lanka is a country that elects its rulers through voting, which is an important part of democracy, since 1931.

Justice and Constitutional Reforms Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said that a great amount of work has been done to ensure democracy in the recent past.
