Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha today (24) said that only those who have obtained a four-year degree and teacher training from the National University of Education would be sent to school classrooms as teachers afterwards.
Speaking in Parliament today, he said, “There are only two ways to recruit teachers. Those who received diplomas were also considered to meet the shortage of teachers in rural areas. However, teachers will be recruited differently afterwards. The 19 National Institutes of Education will be joined to form the National University of Education. They will be directed to classrooms only after their training. A quality teacher will be molded.”
