Sixty people have died due to dengue so far this year and the majority of them are children and people under the age of 50, National Dengue Control Unit Director Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said.
The number of dengue cases reported so far this year is over 62,000.
The Health Ministry said that the number of dengue cases this year has tripled compared to last year.
The ministry also warned that dengue cases may increase further in the upcoming days.
