Photographer Sandun Lahiru Dilshan, who was arrested on charges of uploading fake nade photos of five young women to the internet, was ordered to be remanded until September 6 by Attanagalla Court No.02 Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne.
The Nittambuwa Police Children and Women Bureau conducted investigations and arrested the suspect for allegedly inserting naked women’s photos into the photos of five young women and then uploading them to the internet.
Nittambuwa Police Case Operations Division Police Sergeant H.R.S. Kumara said the suspect had committed the crime while working as a photographer and that he had released the edited photos to the internet through his mobile phone.
After handing over the seized mobile phone to the Magistrate, the Magistrate examined it and ordered the suspect to be remanded.
Prison officials were also ordered to present the suspect to a psychiatrist at the Ragama Hospital for an assessment and then submit the medical report to the court the next day.
The case will be taken up again on September 06.
