Railway under guards have called off their strike following discussions with authorities.
The strike was launched yesterday following an assault incident.
Previously, a statement by Sri Lanka Railways pointed out that leaves of all railway assistant guards have been cancelled.
Accordingly, all railway assistant guards who are scheduled to work today (05 Oct.) have been ordered to report to work before 12:00 noon, the General Manager of Railways said.
It had been decided to consider the railway workers who are on strike as having vacated their posts as per the gazette notification issued on September 12, which had deemed Railways as an essential service.
