A 28-year-old Sri Lankan was killed in a car accident in Canada.
A speeding car had hit Vinoj Yasanga Jayasundara’s car at a traffic light while he was returning from Vancouver, Canada on June 22 after visiting there for his Ph.D research related work.
Sources said the youth lost his life due to reckless driving by a drunk driver in Vancouver.
The body was brought to his house at Nadun Uyana, Maththegoda yesterday (11) after 19 days and final rites are to be performed at the Manangoda family burial ground in Batapola, Galle.
He met with the accident while reading for his doctorate as a third year student from the University of Maryland in the United States after obtaining a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Moratuwa.
Vinoj completed his primary education at Dharmapala Maha Vidyala, Kottawa, and then completed Advanced Level at the Royal College, Colombo.
He also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree obtained from England.
He was working at Apple Company in California at the time of his death.
