Investigations revealed that the murdered businessman had relations with an underworld leader named Rathgama Vidura.

Police suspect that the murder may have been carried out as a result of a deep hatred between Rathgama Vidura and Kosgoda Sujee.

Lalith Wasantha Mendis, the owner of the largest textile shop in Galle, was killed while he was returning home after closing the shop.

While he was driving his car, two assailants who chased him on a motorcycle fired several shots at the rear windows of the car in the Binge Kanda area, Galle.
