The Department of Meteorology states that there may be showers or thunderstorms in certain areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara Districts, after around 2.00 p.m. today (March 19).
According to the Department, heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara Districts.
Several spells of showers can also be expected in the Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota District.
Misty conditions may occur in the morning in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva Provinces, and in the Galle and Matara Districts, as per the Department’s announcement.
The Department of Meteorology requests the public to take necessary precautions to minimize accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
