Parking fees in Colombo city revised

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) revised the parking fee rates in city limits from first of January, a senior official said.

According to the gazette notification issued by the CMC the parking fees for a motor Bicycle per hour would remain the same at Rs 20 while the fee for a three wheeler has been revised from Rs 20 to Rs 40 per hour.

For a Motor Car or a Dual Purpose Vehicle it has gone up to Rs. 70 from Rs 50.

Rs. 100 would be charged for a Bus, Motor Coach, Motor Lorry, Light and Heavy Motor Lorries for an hour. Previously the charge was Rs 70.

The school vans, buses as well as staff service vans and buses will be charged Rs 600, 100, 1200 and 2000 respectively per month.

Parking fee will be effective every day of the month except for public holidays.

Parking Fee is applicable from 6.00 am to 12.00 noon. Nevertheless, parking fees will also be implemented to those who park near hospital areas from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm, according the Gazette notification

A separate schedule has been gazette regarding late fees for which vehicles are parked in an unlawful manner. The fee charges are set up if the late fee payment is made within 24 hours from the time of issuance of late fee notice.

The late fees for the vehicles which were parked in an unlawful manner would be Rs. 40 and 60 for Motor bicycle and Tricycle respectively. The late fee payment for a Motor car and Dual purpose vehicle would be Rs 100 and 150 accordingly.

 The charges of late fees for buses, Motor coaches, light and heavy motor lorries would be charged Rs 150 while School and  Staff Service Van would be charged Rs 100 while 150 will be charged for a School or Staff Service Bus per hour.

In addition, if the necessary payments are not made within 24 hours from the time of issuance of late fee notice, the past due fee would be charged according to that a fee of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 1500 would be charged for Motor Bicycle and Tricycle respectively.

For a Motor Car or a Dual Purpose Vehicle it would be Rs. 1500 and Rs. 3600 will be charged for a Bus, Motor Coach, Motor Lorry, Light and Heavy Motor Lorries. Rs. 2500 will be charged for a School or Staff Service Van plus, Rs. 3600 will be allocated for a School or Staff Service Bus.

It is operating only on weekends at the present.

SLR says that the daily operations will now commence following capacity improvements.

Doctors say rest is crucial for children with flu symptoms

Pediatricians have warned that children showing symptoms of influenza may suffer heart damage if they engage in sports or strenuous physical activity.

Dr. Deepal Perera, Consultant Pediatrician at Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, has advised parents to keep children with such symptoms at home and avoid sending them to school or preschool.

He has also noted that there are rising cases of Dengue, Chikungunya and Diarrhea among children as well.

KKS police station receives anonymous threat call

The Kankesanthurai Police Station has reportedly received an anonymous phone call alleging that around 10 police stations in the Northern Province would come under attack.

The call was received between 1:15 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. on 11 June, police said.

Police investigations have been launched in connection with the anonymous threat.

Meanwhile, the Police Media Division stated that enhanced security measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of police stations across the Northern Province.
